ACEU welcomed NTUC Deputy Secretary-General Ms Cham Hui Fong and team to Aster mTower on 26 August 2026 for an engagement with members of the ACEU Executive Council.
The visit provided an opportunity for both sides to connect beyond the usual formal settings and have an open exchange on ACEU’s journey, the evolving workplace landscape and the Union’s role in continuing to represent and support our members effectively.
During the engagement, ACEU shared some of its experiences navigating the transition into Aster and how the Union continues to adapt alongside changes within the organisation. The conversation touched on the realities of representing a diverse workforce across different employee groups and work locations, as well as the importance of maintaining constructive industrial relations as the organisation evolves.
The exchange also covered broader employment and representation matters, including some of the considerations that union leaders encounter while representing members on the ground. Both sides shared perspectives on how unions can remain responsive to changing workforce needs, while ensuring that established channels for representation and engagement continue to serve members effectively.
Another part of the conversation centred on union leadership and preparedness. The exchange reinforced the importance of union leaders staying informed, understanding the processes and responsibilities that come with their roles, and remaining connected to members on the ground. Beyond responding to issues when they arise, being prepared and equipped enables union leaders to provide more effective representation and support when it is needed.
The session also gave ACEU an opportunity to hear perspectives from the wider Labour Movement and exchange views on how NTUC and its affiliated unions can continue working closely together. Having a direct channel for such conversations allows workplace developments and ground perspectives to be shared candidly, while enabling unions to tap on the wider experience and support of the Labour Movement.
More than a formal visit, the engagement was a valuable opportunity to strengthen the relationship between ACEU and the wider Labour Movement — keeping conversations open, perspectives connected and the interests of workers at the centre of our collective efforts.
